My Bohemian Wedding: Cupcake Flavors

I've been working on some different cupcake varieties for the wedding. Keith, Keith's coworkers, and our friends have become my guinnie pigs. After consuming massive amounts of butter cream topped sugary confections at the bridal extravaganza, I am leaning toward lighter flavors. I love anything citrus and zesty, and have made strawberry limeade, margarita, and strawberry lemonade with lemon cream cheese frosting. The first was an altered box mix, while the latter two were made from scratch. Other flavors I am considering...

My Bohemian Wedding: Desserts

Although I have quite a sweet tooth, Keith is far more selective when it comes to sweet treats. This got us discussing dessert options for the wedding. I've been seeing cupcakes done quite a bit, as well as cake pops, a few pies, some donuts, and plenty of candy bars. I thought, why not do them all? People have different tastes, so why not offer something for everyone. Here are some of my favorite ideas...

Candy Bar via Austin Wedding Blog.

Cake pops via Advantage Bridal Wedding Ideas.

Pies via Cheap Ways To...

Coffee and donuts via United With Love.

My Bohemian Wedding: Alternative Gowns

After trying on numerous wedding gowns, I am beginning to feel that they may not be for me. Little else about our nuptials will be traditional, so why should my dress be? I didn't love any of the dresses I tried on, so I showed Keith the photos of  me in them. He said I looked uncomfortable in all of them. And, truth be told, I was. I don't think I'm quite cut out for the frou-frou dress business. Originally, I wanted something different, but entertained the idea after looking at some photos of gowns. Here is what I am thinking I like a bit better...

Rainy Day Reading Nook

Dreary, sunny, dreary, sunny, winter, spring, winter, spring..... I wish Texas would make up it's mind. My allergies certainly aren't enjoying this seasonal roller coaster. This funky weather is making want to sleep all day long, or curl up with a good book. Here are some inspiring spaces that make you want to disappear into your favorite novel...

My Bohemian Wedding: Bridesmaid Dresses

Since this wedding is going along the lines (or lack of lines) of a bohemian feel, I thought it best to have non-traditional bridesmaids dresses. I want my girls to feel relaxed and comfortable. I also want to go with something inexpensive and something that they may actually wear again. No stuffy dresses that they'll be wishing they were out of as soon as the ceremony is over. Here's what I'm thinking about. However, I do wish some of them were longer. I guess a lot of it depends on what the girls are comfortable in.

1. Yellow dress from Forever21  2. Blush dress from Lulu*s   3. Nude dress from Forever21 4. Brown dress from Dorothy Perkins   5. Teal dress from Asos 6. Taupe dress from Dorothy Perkins  7. Beige dress from Top Shop  8. Gold dress from Oasis  9. Mustard dress from Top Shop

My Bohemian Wedding: Tablescape Inspiration

I haven't decided if I'm going to be totally stressed and freak out over this whole wedding, or mellow out and let it all happen organically. I am trying to relax and let it come together naturally, but I find that there are a lot of opinions on how things should be done when it comes to these things. I am quickly learning that there is no way to make everyone happy, and that all I can really do is make the choices that will make Keith and I happy. After all, it's our day. I would love to hear everyone's input, and I will continue posting my wedding inspiration here, but when all is said and done, I hope you love what we chose as much as we do.

My Bohemian Wedding: Dresses

Since I have begun planning a wedding, I am going to start a wedding section of my blog. I would love to get some feedback on these ideas and hear what you all have to say about it. What a fun and stressful project to be undertaking!

Right now I am thinking I want a bit of a vintage bohemian feel for the event. I think these dresses are the epitome of vintage beauty. I think the first one is my favorite,  because of the gorgeous back, but I love the other two as well.

A Zen Space For Me

One of my big goal for this year is to have a nice little Zen space in the backyard for reading, relaxing, and meditating. I love being outside, and dream of a cozy area to laze away the hours in bliss. With loads of weatherproof pillows, rugs, and a shady cover, my dream will be complete. Here are some inspirational spaces to get my engine running...

Custom Shelving

I took the day off yesterday to relax for my birthday. We intended to go out to eat to celebrate the big day, but Keith wasn't feeling 100%, so we rented Crazy Stupid Love and order sushi take out. Perfection.

Getting back on track. I've asked Keith to build me a custom shelving system for my craft room, which will also serve as a guest room, so I need to fit as much as possible into it to free up living space. It has to be something that is easy to put together and take out if we move. I am thinking that it should be several pieces. I want to design it myself, but I've been looking for inspirational pieces to get me moving in the right direction.

Birthday Wishlist Part I: New Year, New Gear

We have once again crossed the threshold into a new year, with a head full of dreams and heart full of hope. I know I have pretty great expectations for 2012, with a wedding to plan and execute, as well as re-entering school after an eight year absence. I look toward this year with excitement and curiosity. What are you goals and plans for this year?

In a addition to these big changes, I have a birthday rapidly approaching. Twenty nine! The last last year of my twenties. Time to live it up, and put a real effort into achieving my goals for the future. For now, however, I am thinking about the upcoming weekend, which will be the celebration of said birthday. I normally head home to spend my special day with my family and a few friends, but the Austin Bridal Extravaganza is falling on the same weekend, and I can't miss this Bridezilla luring event. I hear that it can become pretty intense, but it would be good for me to see what the local vendors have to offer.

In light of this, my friends and family are coming to me, and spending the weekend with Keith and I, the women accompanying me to the extravaganza, and the boys doing boy stuff, and then a small celebration at our house. It's gotten me thinking about what I would like for my birthday, and here are a few things that I have come up with...

1. I've been drooling over these Steve Madden "Carnaby" boots from Piperlime for months. 2. Some killer skull earbuds from Amazon to listen to Pandora on my new phone. 3. A fashionable bamboo mortar and pestle from Core Bamboo to whip up some homemade guacamole or tortillas. 4. Black and white star print dress from Dorothy Perkins for date night. 5. Gold and black iPhone case from Coveroo. 6. A Babycakes cake pop maker from Kohl's to whip up some whimsical treats.7. Antique style gold skull necklace from Luxe Deluxe. 8. A bike rack from Academy to hit the trails. to talk in style.
