Some friends and I have decided that we need to have weekly crafternoons. A day of cooking, baking, crafting, talking, laughing, (maybe drinking), or whatever strikes our fancy. Yesterday, we decided it would be fun to make bacon chocolate chip cookies. With the crazy bacon trends going around, we thought we'd try our hand at it. Chocolate covered bacon was the inspiration for this concoction. We just made some tweaks to a typical chocolate chip cookie recipe by adding a little chopped bacon, bacon grease, and a dash of Maker's Mark. Honestly, the bacon flavor wasn't as prominent as we had hoped, but they were delicious none the less. We thought a little more salt sprinkled on top before we baked them might have brought out the flavor a bit more. Oh well. We had fun!
