Hello From Guatemala!

Sorry I haven't been posting this last week. It was a bit hectic around the house trying to post new items in my etsy shop, ship out orders, and pack for our anniversary trip. So here we are now, in Antigua Guatemala, where the rainy season is in full swing, but we are happy to be among old friends and back in the place we once called home. Pictures to come soon! Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Gallery Wall Art

So yesterday, I told you that I am working on some projects to put together a gallery wall in my dining room. I painted the EAT letters yellow with polka dots, and still had tons of steam left, so I went ahead and made to two more gallery items that I am so excited to show you! The first is some framed silhouettes of silverware, and the second is a multimedia egg painting. The printed paper I made on my computer, and says "I don't want eggs!", which is a silly inside joke between my husband and I (which I won't bore you with). I know it doesn't sound funny, but I know he'll get a kick out of it. What do you think of the finished products?

EAT Letters for Gallery Wall

My dining room wall has taken on many looks over the two years that we have lived here. My favorite, but the most difficult to adjust, was my plate collection, which my poor husband could never understand. It became too much of a pain to change from season to season, and the bright colors just didn't work year round. Lately, there has just been a large painting of mine hanging there, but it doesn't seem to fill the space properly. So, I have decided to work on a food themed gallery to hang instead. The first project on my list were these letters that read "EAT", which I made very simply. You can cover these with printed paper, yarn, ribbon, glitter, washi tape, or anything else you can imagine. I kept it simple with some basic acrylic paint. Check it out!

I'll post more  pics when I finish and get everything hung!

DIY Envelope Pillow Cases

Spring is in the air, and it's raining outside. So what better time to start brightening up the house with some fresh spring colors? I decided to start with the couch by changing up the throw pillows. Rather than spend the money on buying new pillows (and adding to our already growing collection), I followed this DIY tutorial I found on Pinterest. It was so easy!

House Envy

Well, the hubby and I are officially talking about buying a home, and passively looking. Our lease, however, is up in August, so we probably need to get serious and put the pedal to the metal! We are both in the mindset of finding something older, with good bones, that we can fix up and make our own. We can't wait to have something that we can destroy and put back together! My fantasy is to take something that was never meant to be a house, and turn it into a fabulous home. Of course, while I am musing over this idea, the blogs are flooded with fabulous buildings that have been transformed into marvelous habitations. Here are some of my favorites.

I've created 5 sets of cards so far, that all proceeds from will go to Bradie's YouCaring.com site. Every little bit helps!  Here is the card I created today...

Benefit For Bradie

As some of you may know, my dear friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. In fact, she goes in for surgery today. She and her sweet husband have been trying to raise money to help with medical bills. I am attempting to put together a benefit party to help in their endeavor, but in the mean time, I am going to work on small projects to gather funds. All items will have a breast cancer/pink theme. First on the list is this set of Thank You cards I created. I am trying to decide if the best method is to post them on Etsy with set prices, or on ebay where they can be bid on. Any thoughts?
